Location: (Bogotá/Colombia) Temporary for maternity leave About the Role The Product Category Specialist is responsible for define and managing the sourcing and category strategy, supplier relationships, and commercial strategy for assigned chemical product categories. The role ensures competitive supply conditions, cost optimization, supply continuity, and alignment with the company’s commercial and operational strategy This position works cross-functionally with sales, logistics, supply chain, regulatory, and finance teams to ensure availability, compliance, and profitability of the product portfolio
To be the focal point of the Cluster under your charge ensuring the management of Procurement activities as routines and rituals, understanding of the market under your responsibility, local quotations and relationship with internal Stakeholders
In the Improvement role: is responsible for driving efficiency, standardization, and continuous improvement across the procurement function. This role ensures best practices, tools, governance, and performance management are implemented to optimize sourcing, supplier management, and purchasing processes Key Responsibilities Product category Specialist Key responsabilities: Define and ensure the Procurement Cycle for the categories under your responsibility, ensuring risk Management and Compliance
1. PROCUREMENT CATEGORY AND SOURCING STRATEGY
- Develop and execute category sourcing strategies aligned with company objectives for assigned chemical product categories (e.g., Methanol, Chlor Alkali, etc.)
- Influence and guide commercial team with the category strategy, facilitating cost structures, pricing insights, and supply intelligence.
- Identify opportunities for optimization and value creation (gross profit, working capital, etc.)
2. PRM (PRINCIPAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT) / SRM (SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT)
- Identify, qualify, and develop Principals and suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier performance including quality, reliability, and competitiveness.
- Maintain long-term strategic relationships with key chemical producers.
3. NEGOTIATION AND CONTRACTS
- Lead supplier negotiations on pricing, payment terms, supply conditions, and contracts.
- Track supply-demand dynamics in global chemical markets. - Monitor impacts of feedstock prices, geopolitics, logistics disruptions, and plant shutdowns.
- Provide market insights to internal stakeholders to support pricing and sourcing decisions.
4. EXECUTION AND OPERATION: P2P (PROCURE TO PAY) CYCLE 5. INITIATIVES/SYNERGIES/PROJECTS
Improvement Key Responsibilities 1. Process Optimization & Governance
- Design, implement, and continuously improve procurement processes and policies
- Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies and audit requirements
- Standardize sourcing and purchasing workflows across regions/business units
- Develop and track procurement KPIs
- Build dashboards and reporting tools to support decision-making
- Analyze spend data (including tail spend) to identify optimization opportunities
- Lead implementation and optimization of procurement tools (ERP, e-sourcing, P2P systems)
- Drive automation initiatives to improve efficiency
- Ensure data quality and master data governance
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives with data and methodology
- Lead procurement transformation and continuous improvement projects
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency gains
- Support supplier performance management frameworks
- Enable category managers with tools, templates, and best practices
- Promote supplier consolidation and strategic partnerships
- Train procurement teams on processes, tools, and policies
- Drive adoption of procurement best practices across stakeholders
- Act as a change agent for procurement transformation initiatives
- Lead and represent procurement in client, external and internal audits for the LATAM region

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
- More than 5 years of experience
- Experience in negotiations, ideally regional negotiations and in the Chemical Products sector
- Experience in team and project leadership
- Fluent Spanish. Desirable but not required: intermediate English and Portuguese
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems
