Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Reports to: CEO / CSO

Location: Corporate Office (Cartagena)

Supervises: Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Financial Planning, Legal Financial Compliance and Administrative Management.


I. Purpose of the Position

The CFO will be responsible for leading the financial strategy of the holding, ensuring profitability, sustainability and compliance with tax and accounting regulations across all business units in different countries. They will oversee financial planning, risk & insurance management, treasury, and investor relations, ensuring the efficient use of resources.


II. Duties and Responsibilities

1. Financial Planning and Strategy

  • Define and oversee the financial strategy of the holding and its subsidiaries.
  • Develop financial growth and business expansion plans.
  • Design financial models to evaluate new investments, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Establish policies for cost control and operational cost optimization.


2. Treasury and Liquidity Management

  • Ensure the availability of funds for the operations of the different business units.
  • Supervise cash management and cash flow projections.
  • Define financing strategies and negotiate with banks and financial institutions.
  • Monitor exchange rate risks and hedging strategies in international markets.


3. Budget Control and Financial Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation and execution of the holding’s annual budget.
  • Analyze consolidated financial reports of business units.
  • Ensure accuracy and transparency in accounting and financial statements.
  • Present periodic financial reports to the Board of Directors and shareholders.


4. Regulatory and Tax Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with international accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
  • Coordinate the tax optimization strategy and tax management in each jurisdiction where the holding operates.
  • Define strategies to minimize tax risks and avoid double taxation on transactions between subsidiaries in different jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits.
  • Implement financial compliance policies and fraud prevention measures.
  • Knowledge of IRS (Internal Revenue Service) regulations and transfer pricing implementation among companies.


5. Investor and Stakeholder Relations

  • Manage communication with shareholders, investors, and regulatory bodies.

Present financial plans and investment opportunities and define capitalization and return on investment strategies.


6. Risk and Insurance Management

  • Implement strategies to mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Oversee the procurement of insurance for assets, operations, and employees.
  • Analyze the financial viability of new projects or cruise routes.



III. Position Requirements

1. Academic Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Corporate Finance.
  • English Level: C1-C2.
  • CPA, CFA, or similar certifications (desirable).


2. Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial leadership roles within U.S. companies under USGAAP.
  • Experience in holdings or multinational companies in the tourism, cruise, or service sectors.
  • Expertise in financial planning, treasury, international taxation, and mergers/acquisitions.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. tax regulations.


3. Specific Knowledge:


Accounting and Regulatory Compliance

  • Accounting Standards (GAAP / IFRS): Understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • U.S. Tax Regulations: Proficiency in U.S. tax codes, corporate taxes (Federal Income Tax, Sales Tax, Excise Tax, Payroll Tax), and reporting to entities such as the IRS (Internal Revenue Service).
  • Financial Statements and Reporting: Preparation of financial reports, audits, and reports to the board of directors and investors.
  • Internal and External Audit Management: Coordination with auditing firms for financial compliance.


Technology and Digital Transformation

  • Financial Software and ERP: Experience with tools like NetSuite and SAP for financial and accounting management.
  • Financial Process Automation: Implementation of digital tools to optimize accounting and reduce manual errors.


Team Management and Leadership

  • Financial Leadership: Ability to lead accounting, treasury, and internal audit teams.
  • Negotiation and Investor Relations: Effective communication with stakeholders, banks, and investors.


Cost and Profitability Analysis

  • Cost Structure in the Cruise Industry: Identification and control of operational costs.
  • Pricing Strategy and Profitability: Definition of pricing strategies based on seasons, competition, and demand.
  • Fixed and Variable Cost Control: Optimization of administrative, personnel, and marketing expenses.
